The Studios @ Central’s mission is to meet the unique intellectual physical social and emotional needs of students through an arts-infused middle school program that issues relevance builds relationships and provides access. Our quality arts program engages student interests promotes creativity and helps students achieve academically and socially/emotionally. The Arts Program at the Studios @Central will promote creativity in both teaching and learning by integrating the visual and performing arts in a thematic curricular approach that lends cohesion and coherence throughout the school’s academic and elective programming. The Arts Program at Central Middle will focus on three strands of Arts Literacy described in California’s Arts Standards (2019): The Arts as Communication (6th Grade Preview Classes and 7th/8th Electives to promote skills and knowledge) The Arts as Culture History and Connectors (School-wide cultural events and arts integration in core classes for academic integration) The Arts as Community Engagement (Assemblies field trips showcases exhibition/ performances for sharing work internally and externally)
